There weren't any recent rumors circulating about teams having interest in signing Revis, so this comes as a surprise the day before Thanksgiving.

Revis won't have to wait long to face his old team, with the Chiefs traveling to the Jets for a 1 p.m. ET game on December 3.

The Chiefs on Wednesday announced the signing of the free-agent cornerback.

Brian Dawkins, Terrell Owens are Hall of Fame semifinalists
James was the Colts' first-round draft pick in 1999 (4 overall) who rushed for a record 9,226 yards during his seven-year career. In addition, Law's ex-teammate Richard Seymour and former Patriots receiver Randy Moss are making their first appearances.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that the deal is for two years, with Revis to receive the league minimum in 2017 and no guaranteed money in 2018. The Jets face the Chiefs next weekend at MetLife Stadium.

That wasn't the case last year, when Revis said he was "way over" his desired weight after having offseason wrist surgery ahead of a disappointing year with the Jets.

Revis, 32, had been out of work since the Jets released him after last season.

It's not clear whether Revis will play cornerback or safety in Kansas City.

Andy Reid told reporters he polled a gaggle of veteran players before acquiring Revis, who has a shot to play in Week 12, according to the coach. "He's a team guy, and we feel like a player of his caliber can help our football team". The Chiefs will line up Revis opposite of Marcus Peters - presumably - in the hopes to strengthen their pass defense.

Revis has recorded 29 interceptions - with three returned for touchdowns - during his 10-year career with the Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots.
