The dispute between Apple and Qualcomm has deepened, with the latter company firing off three new lawsuits claiming infringement of its patents.

The back and forth legal battle between Apple and Qualcomm picked up some steam during the last two days.

There are more lawsuits filed by Apple and Qualcomm against each other in the dispute over patents. As per the claims, the company is violating eight or more patents related to power management. The intellectual property involved is related to cellular connectivity, power efficiency, and 3D imagery on the Apple iPhone 7, Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Apple iPhone 8, Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the Apple iPhone X. "Qualcomm's paid advertising makes wildly inflated claims about its role in the development of the smartphone, but the facts show that it was Apple that put an easy-to-use computer-phone in the palm of people's hands, not Qualcomm".

Other alleged patent violations include the functionality to respond to a call with a text instead of answering, the ability to refocus the camera by tapping on the screen and the idea to drag multiple uses out of the power button including ending a call.

The first complaint accused Apple of infringing United States patent numbers 8,683,362; 8,497,928; 7,844,037; and 9,203,940, relating to a range of technologies including those which allow multiple apps to run at once, camera focusing techniques and methods of responding to incoming calls and texts.

Why are Apple's chips faster than Qualcomm's?

That said, this isn't the first time Qualcomm has raised an ITC complaint against Apple.

Aside from the modems, Qualcomm is also pointing to the multitasking interface of the iPhone X, which is apparently similar to the old interface of webOS.

Qualcomm pointed to its filings when asked for comment. That includes the latest iPhone 8 duo as well as the more in demand iPhone X now on offer from AT&T and T-Mobile.

"You can't react that quickly to file lawsuits", said Rosenberg.

"Apple began seeking those patents years before Qualcomm began seeking the patents it asserts against Apple in this case", Apple wrote in its filing. But both Apple and Qualcomm can afford a long and tedious court battle, especially the former.
