The family members of the twins found one of the them breathing while they were on their way to cremate the infants about an hour after doctors at the Max Super Speciality Hospital in Shalimar Bagh (West Delhi) declared them "stillborn".

The Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into the "criminal negligence".

"We tore the packet, there were 2-3 clothes and polythene bags". At the same time, the doctor who delivered the twins had allegedly told him that the boy was alive and would have to be kept on ventilator in the hospital's nursery for three months. On their way to the burial ground, the parents noticed that one of the twins was showing movements inside the bag. While the girl was stillborn, the baby boy was declared dead later. The doctors are monitoring the boy and say that he had contacted infection because he was exposed to the environment and had been wrapped in plastic, Deepak also said. Ashish alleged that the Max hospital was trying to get rid of the babies when he said that he can not afford the amount given by the hospital.

According to the twins' grandfather Pravin Malik, the family rushed to a nearby hospital in the bustling Kashmere Gate area and were told that their baby boy was alive.
