Newly-elected Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday shed light on the objectives of Congress party under his leadership and said in an interview to the National Herald that he would usher the party towards greater democratisation and introduce new faces in the party.

"The Congress party took us into the 21st century but the prime minister today is taking us backwards to the medieval times where people are butchered for who they are, beaten for what they believe and killed for what they eat", he said.
