"We have lots of families in the areas and lots of little ones that may not necessarily want to stay up until midnight on New Year's", Knight said, "and I think it's a fun way to bring families into the library to celebrate the new year in a safe, fun atmosphere".
For parents with kids excited for 2018, there's a New Year's Eve celebration that is just for them.
Volunteers from the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum had just released dozens of multicolored "Happy New Years" balloons from two plastic bags on the ceiling following a countdown to noon.

Small plane crashes in Costa Rica, killing 12
