Two Ohio police killed while responding to emergency call

Two police officers were shot dead in mid-western USA state of OH on Saturday, local authorities said.

"These were two of the best we have", said Morbitzer. "They knew how to do policing the right way, both of them". The officers were shot after they arrived at a residence.

The suspect was wounded and taken to a hospital, a city spokeswoman said.

The City of Westerville posted on Twitter, "We are deeply saddened to report that one of our officers has been killed in the line of duty". They came under fire when they responded to the address connected with the call.

No other information was immediately available.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. about 15 miles northeast of Columbus.

Ohio Governor John Kasich, who calls Westerville his home town, said the officers' "deaths are a awful tragedy for my hometown of Westerville and all of Ohio".
