More than 800 of the 900 KFC locations in the United Kingdom were closed February 19 with roughly 600 stores remaining closed during the lunchtime on February 20 in Great Britain.
News of the shortage caused a storm on social media, as customers told of having to find nearby branches that would serve them chicken.
The Chron reported yesterday that a number of fast-food outlets in town had shut up shop after failing to receive a chicken delivery. "The chicken just crossed the road, just not to our restaurants", the global company said in a statement.

According to the KFC website, the Portsmouth stores in North Harbour and Commercial Road are open, as is the store in Lederle Lane, Gosport.
KFC said it was all due to "teething problems" with a new delivery contractor, which meant it ran out of chicken at some stores.
Until last Tuesday, KFC's chicken was delivered by South African-owned distribution group Bidvest, which describes itself as "the leading supplier of logistical and supply chain solutions to the United Kingdom hospitality and restaurant sector".
