Olympic star Aly Raisman files suit against U.S.A. Gymnastics Aly Raisman

Moore, who now is a gymnast at the University of MI, joins the more than 250 women and girls who have claimed they were sexually abused by Nassar while he worked as a doctor at MSU and for Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics, which trains athletes for the Olympics.

The complaints said that Nassar sexually abused Raisman, two-time Olympian who won medals in London and Rio de Janeiro, at the Karolyi Ranch in Texas, national and worldwide competitions and the 2012 London Olympics.

Raisman says in her docs she always thought Nassar was "weird" and questioned why she was told he was the "best gymnastics doctor in the world". She delivered a powerful victim impact statement in court, telling Nassar it was time for him to take accountability for his monstrous behavior.

Nassar pleaded guilty last year to molesting female athletes under the guise of medical treatment for almost 20 years, and in January and February was given two prison sentences in MI of 40 to 125 years, and 40 to 175 years.

In the suit filed Wednesday, but announced Friday morning, in Santa Clara County, California, attorneys representing Raisman say the USOC was "aware, at the highest levels of its organization, that Defendant Nassar had molested Olympic and National Team level gymnasts". "It has become painfully clear that these organizations have no intention of properly addressing this problem", Raisman said in a statement.

The USOC and a representative for Raisman did not immediately return requests for comment.

Raisman also claims both organizations "knew or should have known" about Nassar's conduct. The suit alleges Nassar began grooming Raisman shortly after she joined the USA junior national team.

During the sentencing hearings, gymnasts described their ordeal while being treated by Nassar, who was known as the go-to doctor for Olympic gymnasts.

USA Gymnastics has undergone a massive overhaul in the previous year.
