Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday met opposition leader Raila Odinga, vowing to end rivalry which led to the deaths of 100 people in elections a year ago.

Machakos governor, Alfred Mutua and his Nyeri counterpart Mutahi Kahiga said the meeting of the two national leaders has eased ethnic tension and was a step in the right direction.
"Tillerson will focus on continued support for the democratic process in Kenya, refugee issues, and press freedom", the US embassy said in a brief statement issued before the top diplomat's arrival in Nairobi. "Elections come and go, but Kenya remains", Kenyatta said.
