Tottenham forward Harry Kane was forced off with an injury during a Premier League match with Bournemouth on Sunday.

Junior Stanislas had already hit the crossbar when he gave the Cherries a seventh-minute lead, and Spurs then lost Harry Kane to an ankle injury.

The former England striker said on BBC Radio 5 live: "Pochettino doesn't seem to be a manager who's in a hurry to get away from Spurs. We hope it is not a massive issue for him and the team and hope he can recover as soon as possible and be available". "You need 24 or 25 players with the same objective - to fight for the team and help the team when the gaffer calls on them".

"It was the flawless answer after the massive disappointment against Juventus", he said.

The Bosnian goalkeeper's miserable afternoon was compounded in injury time when he could only swat Kieran Trippier's cross onto the head of Aurier as Tottenham banished memories of their Champions League defeat in style. "But I think it is good news because, for us, that we don't play Premier League at the weekend because we're still in the FA Cup, we are still alive in a different competition".

The injury will also be a worry for England, with Kane expected to lead the line for Gareth Southgate's side at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Bournemouth took control of the game after that as they went in search of an equaliser and came close in the 84 minute when Callum Wilson found the back of the net, but his goal was disallowed for a foul.
