Rex Tillerson to step down by March end

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that CIA Director Mike Pompeo will replace Rex Tillerson as secretary of state, a step likely to influence Washington's stance on North Korea.

For months it has been perceived that Tillerson, who is younger than Trump but appears older, has been unhappy in his position.

Trump announced the news on Twitter, thanking Tillerson for his services, and welcoming Pompeo. If approved by the Senate, Haspel will become the first female director of the agency. More important, in addition to clearly enjoying Trump's confidence, he has deeply honed political skills that Tillerson, a former ExxonMobil CEO with no governmental experience, lacked - including an ease at dealing with Congress and the press.

◆ Impact on North Korea, Iran?

Months of rumors that his job was on the chopping block did not soften a rough landing for Rex Tillerson as he flew home early from an official five-country tour of Africa. Trump acknowledged the differences here yesterday saying, "Rex and I have been talking about this for a long time". One official said chief of staff John Kelly had called Tillerson on Friday and again on Saturday to warn him that Trump was about to take imminent action if he did not resign and that a replacement had already been identified. He also pointed out the core issue.

Broadcom abandons plans to buy Qualcomm after Trump blocks the deal
One factor that may have pushed CFIUS to move quickly was a unusual maneuver by Broadcom to relocate to the United States. One explanation appears to be inherent suspicion of Broadcom amongst the "powers that be" in the US.

Trump delivered an ultimatum to the European powers on January 12, saying they must agree to "fix the bad flaws of the Iran nuclear deal" or he would refuse to extend US sanctions relief on Iran. "And as I've mentioned publicly, I thought there was a reprieve that was under way since about the beginning of December, but, look". "I wanted to break it or do something, and he felt a little bit differently". "So we were not really thinking the same", he said.

Pompeo clearly has a much closer relationship with Trump and has displayed more public fealty to him.

He said he would delegate all authority to Deputy Secretary John Sullivan, who will serve as acting secretary until Pompeo is confirmed. "In my time as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, I have worked alongside many remarkable Foreign Service officers and Department of State leaders serving here in the United States and on the very edge of freedom", he added. "The Secretary did not speak to the president and is unaware of the reason (for his firing), but he is grateful for the opportunity to serve", Goldstein said.

Trump hails House report's finding of no collusion with Russian Federation
We can't find any collusion. "I think he has been under attack for a very long time saying he colluded with Russians", said Nunes. The House Intelligence Committee has been carrying out an investigation separate from that of special counsel Robert Mueller .

Although Trump dismissively said past year that Tillerson was wasting his time trying to talk to "Little Rocket Man", as he dubbed North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the summit that Trump agreed to last week is partly born of Tillerson's efforts. Tillerson's brutal departure may reduce the U.S. administration's divisions on key foreign policy issues, but is unlikely to stop continued flip-flops by the President which reflect the ad-hoc nature of his style of governing, policy inexperience, and contrarian nature. "When you look at the Iran deal, I thought it was awful, he thought it was okay", Trump said. I like Rex a lot.

"I think it creates somewhat of an unstable environment in the bureaucracy and our democracy", she said. In recent weeks, he grew even more outspoken in his criticism of Russian Federation, more confident that his patient pressure on North Korea was bearing fruit and seemingly more comfortable that he would outlast his many critics in the West Wing.

Cronin said that Pompeo's hawkish views on how to deal with North Korea will help push the isolated regime and its leader to make concessions, and says that Pompeo's shift to the State Department will keep the pressure up. Tillerson also reportedly called Trump a "moron" after a meeting of cabinet and national security officials last summer.

American Idol Slips in Night 2, Easily Bested by The Voice
The 33-year-old singer went through a transformation herself last year, when she chopped her hair into a short platinum pixie cut. It's only been two days since American Idol has returned to our television screens and already the show's making headlines.

Politico reported in February that a fuming Tillerson said there can not be "four secretaries of state", referencing what he saw as intrusion by Kushner, UN ambassador Nikki Haley and national security adviser H.R. McMaster.
