Timothy Cunningham's remains were found Tuesday evening by fishermen along the Chattahoochee River in a rural area that had been previously searched and is not easily accessible by foot, authorities said at a press conference.
The body of a researcher from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was pulled from a river in Atlanta, police said Thursday, almost two months after he mysteriously went missing.

"Back on February 23, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department did, in fact, search the Chattahoochee River from Marietta Boulevard going downstream to Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway which is close to where Mr. Cunningham's body was found", Stafford said.
He was last seen leaving work February 12 after telling colleagues he didn't feel well. Atlanta Police Department spokesman Carlos Campos made the announcement on Thursday.

His CDC biography says he was a "team lead" with the Division of Population Health and had deployed for several public health emergencies "including Superstorm Sandy, Ebola, and Zika". WSB-TV reported that the esteemed doctor had texted his mother at 5:21 a.m. and then called her at 9:12 a.m. on Feb.12.
