The immediate past president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, is appearing in court today, April 6 to face corruption charges related to a 1990s arms deal.

"This matter is adjourned until June 8", judge Themba Sishi said after being addressed by lawyers from both sides who confirmed that Zuma would appeal against the decision to prosecute him.

Former South African President, Jacob Zuma, on Friday told thousands of his supporters outside court in Durban that he is innocent of the crimes levelled against him. It came after his financial adviser Schabir Shaik was found guilty of fraud and corruption in relation to the arms deal and alleged corrupt dealing with Zuma in 2005.

The case against Mr Zuma was dropped shortly before he ran for president in 2009.

BLF has always said that Zuma has been a victim of the pressure for trying to transform the economy and improve the lives of the poor.

Former President Jacob Zuma's corruption trial will not start in earnest before November at the earliest - and possibly not even then.

The Air Force said in a statement a F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed over the Nevada Test and Training Range on Wednesday morning. The Nevada Test and Training Range is near the Thunderbirds' home station of Nellis Air Force Base, just outside Las Vegas.

Legal expert Paul Hoffman said Zuma and his legal team would try anything to "duck, dive, delay and defect" the case so that he may never be asked to plead to the charges.

However, the opponents of the ex-South African leader think that the court trial is long overdue.

The ruling party leadership had instructed Zuma to resign in February after a leadership crisis that destabilized the ANC, which was already weakened by other scandals during Zuma's presidency.

Ramaphosa must decide whether he fights a DA application to stop continued legal funding for Zuma's fight against his corruption prosecution.

Mr Zuma countered with his own legal challenges.

Nearby, a crowd of 50 young women, some wearing Zuma shirts, gathered below an underpass in a corner of the park to chant in support of their embattled former president.

The former president thanked his supporters for prayers before taking an indirect swipe at the ANC for deciding against rallying behind him.

He was replaced by Cyril Ramaphosa after nine years in power.

"Hands off RET (radical economic transformation), hands off Zuma", read one brandished placard.

In 2016, the High Court ruled that Mpshe's decision to drop the charges was irrational and ordered the charges be reinstated.
