Many Canadians chose to become organ donors, inspired by the example of the young Logan Boulet team Humboldt Broncos, who was killed in a bad accident in Saskatchewan.
One of the Humboldt Broncos players who died in the crash, Logan Boulet, had signed his organ donor card after turning 21 in March and his organs have been used to help save six people, a case that's believed to be behind the increasing numbers.
"Logan made it clear previously that he signed his donor card as soon as he turned 21", Boulet's family told Global News.
New data from NHS Blood and Transplant has revealed that a record number of organ donors was seen during the 2017-18 financial year.
"When people are standing here and asking people to join the donor nation, and they have had a second chance at life because of organ donation it makes a big difference", she said.
Donald Trump cancels South America trip
Vice President Pence also hosted the Northern Triangle Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America as well. He described the raid as "an attack on our country in a true sense ... an attack on what we all stand for".
Any Manitoban looking to become an organ donor can do so by registering at signupforlife.ca. "The organs and tissues of youngsters are recommended for transplant", he said.
"It's such an easy thing that everyone can try to do to help", Stokke, 25, said in a phone interview.
Ronnie Gavsie, president and CEO of the Trillium Gift of Life Network, called Boulet "an example to all Canadians".
"Logan actually acted, he did not procrastinate - he is truly a hero".
Approximately every 10 minutes, a patient is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.
Plane Crash on Arizona Golf Course Kills 6
The plane crashed on the TPC Scottsdale Champions Golf Course near Bell and North Hayden Roads in Scottsdale, Ariz. The tour's Phoenix Open is held annually at TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course, near the Champions Course.
Good intentions are not enough to help the 4,500 people in Canada who now need a life-saving organ transplant, Gavsie said.
"Until it impacts your life directly, people just don't take action", Allen says.
And later in the same month The Nuffield Council on Bioethics said there is good evidence that a range of other factors - such as encouraging family discussion - do increase the rate of donation.
"The decision to donate organs is a powerful gift, made more poignant because it often happens at an incredibly hard time", said Alberta Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sarah Hoffman.
