32-year-old rookie gets “MVP” chants with record-breaking NBA debut

After 10-years in the National Basketball Association development league and a record 713 three-pointers made, 32-year-old Andre Ingram became the NBA's oldest American rookie since 1964 on Tuesday night, and he did it while dropping 19 points for the Los Angeles Lakers against the NBA's top team, the Houston Rockets, in his debut.

On Tuesday night, Ingram, the G League's all-time leader in made 3-pointers, made his debut, and he did not disappoint. Coming off the bench late in the first quarter, Ingram put on a clinic scoring 19 points in his debut.

Ingram finished with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, with three rebounds, three blocks, an assist, and a steal for good measure.

Ingram, the 14th oldest rookie in league history, made his debut after playing 384 games - a full decade - in the developmental G League, including parts of the past six years with the Lakers own affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

"It was once in a lifetime", Ingram said to reporters after the game.

Ingram said: "I just felt some electricity out there". I just wanted to feel it. "MVP chants, that's just insane", Ingram told reporters.

"When he said he was being called up to the Lakers, I literally lost it, and started screaming", his wife Marilee said.

"I told him I heard about his story, and that grind is unbelievable", the also 32-year-old Rockets All-Star point guard Chris Paul said.

Ingram has to somehow come up with an encore in the Lakers' season finale against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.
