Shooter fires through restaurant window, kills 2 Fla. deputies



A gunman shot through the window of a Chinese restaurant and killed two Gilchrist County sheriff's deputies in Trenton, Fla., on Thursday.

Ramirez, who leaves behind a wife and two young children, worked in law enforcement for seven years, serving at the Williston Police Department and the Levy County Sheriff's Office before joining GCSO in 2016, according to GCSO.

Sgt. Noel Ramirez and deputy Taylor Lindsey died from gunshot wounds after the suspect shot them while eating lunch through the restaurant window at approximately 3 p.m., according to law enforcement.

Deputies from the neighboring Alachua County Sheriff's Office are answering calls for service in Gilchrist County to allow the local office time for healing.

Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz will spend the rest of Friday with his family, officials said.
