Iran's top leader accuses US of provoking regional conflicts

Khomenei: US provoking Gulf nations to confront Iran

The United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia and all of its regional allies accuse Iran of sponsoring proxy groups across the Middle East in a bid to dominate the region.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemies have resorted to economic war after realizing the futility of military action against Iran.

"Americans are the ones who should leave.The Middle East, the west of Asia and the Persian Gulf is our home", Khamenei said.Iranian state TV quoted Iran´s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi as saying Tehran would keep on backing its friends in the region despite USA pressure to curb its influence.

His comments to Tehran workers and entrepreneurs came a day after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in Riyadh, urged unity among Persian Gulf countries in confronting Iran.

The Iranian leader added that the Americans do not want to pay the cost of confronting Iran themselves and are therefore trying to get others to do the fighting for them.
