Armenia Pashinyan became the new Prime Minister of the country

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian faces an array of challenges, including a parliament dominated by the party he denounced as corrupt and how to resolve the volatile question of Nagorno-Karabakh, a region of Azerbaijan under the control of ethnic Armenian forces. However, Armenia has changed its government structure, giving the prime minister more power than the presidency. "The Republican Party's votes will go towards making up for any votes missing from the 53 needed for the election of a prime minister", member of parliament Samvel Farmanyan said.

Pashinian has threatened to stage another general strike if the HHK fails to vote for his candidacy on May 8.

"All people are equal before the law, period!" he said.

"The leadership will not be a means to earn money".
