Cyberpunk 2077 is a First-Person RPG, Become 'Urban Legend', V

Hint: It's not hiding under a truck, but there are two ways we know of so far. Well, that gets remedied today, thanks to a series of info drops from the developer.

CD Projekt describes the game as a "first-person RPG". That is not the case, it seems.

"Third-person works well in games like The Witcher when you have a lot of motion and movement around you". However, you will see your personalized protagonist during cut-scenes and conversations.

This immersiveness carries over to the game's dialogue system, which sees dialogue options popping up when looking at a character. Nevertheless, the character you customize will come with his or her own personality.

Game Noir - With its mature approach to storytelling, Cyberpunk 2077 adopts elements of noir cinema and inserts them into the future of video games. The character build for V used in the demo could reportedly wall run, double jump and use arm-blades to take out opponents, however, these are apparently late-game abilities. V can be male or female, and look however you decide. This is still an RPG: hacking, gunning, and engineering are viable means of dealing with situations.

There will be an vast number of ways to build V as well, with various abilities, augmentations, and stats to choose from, each affecting the style of combat and even dialog choices. "Obviously it's very different in the fact that we're now doing it from a first-person perspective rather than from a third-person, but the lessons that we learned in Witcher, we can definitely translate".

Strength, Reflexes, Tech, Intelligence, Constitution, and Cool are the stats you can select from at the beginning.

It's inspired by Cyberpunk 2020, a tabletop game from 1988.

In Cyberpunk 2077, player exploration will only be gated by their "street cred", a number that determines which areas you'll have access to, among other things. "Only by using first-person for this game, [have we] been truly able to achieve a very immersive experience".
