Kepa Arrizabalaga appears to be Chelsea bound

Mateo Kovacic has joined Chelsea from Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal.

The seven-year deal certainly puts Chelsea in a position of strength which had been lacking with outgoing Courtois.

Colombia centre-back Mina would be signing on a permanent deal for a fee of around £27m while Portugal global Gomes would move on a season-long loan for a fee of around £2m.

Athletic confirmed on Wednesday that the 23-year-old's release clause of 80million euros (£71m) was activated and his contract terminated, although made no mention of Chelsea.

Arrizabalaga becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in soccer history, ahead of Liverpool's Alisson, who moved from AS Roma for €75 million earlier in the transfer window.
