There were no other passengers on the plane.
On 10 August, the 29-year-old mechanic at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport stole a Horizon Air 76-seat passenger airplane.
The crash happened on Ketron Island, which is southwest of Tacoma, in south Puget Sound.
All flights were grounded at Seattle-Tacoma global airport in the U.S. when a passenger plane took off without permission. The local sheriff's office said the crash may have been caused by the man "doing stunts in air or lack of flying skills". The incident was not considered terrorism, the FBI's Seattle office said. "Male is confirmed a suicidal male". We know who he is.
A short time later, the Horizon plane crashed on Ketron Island, a small wooded area in Pierce County.
"We believe it was taken by a single Horizon Air employee and no other passengers or crew were on board", she said.

Some Seattle-bound flights were diverted to Vancouver.
Alaska Airlines on Twitter said the airplane was a turboprop Q400 airplane belonging to its sister carrier Horizon Air.
Later, he said he's "got a lot of people that care about me".
Passengers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, which claims to be the ninth busiest USA airport took to Twitter to vent their frustration after the incident grounded all flights for up to any hour. We're trying to get accurate information about what is actually going on.
The employee appeared to be in distress as he spoke to air traffic control while flying the stolen plane, according to a tower broadcast of the conversation.
Then the passenger plane pilot "did a complete loop".

Another was 29-year-old Nasim Ghanadan, who saw Hakimi as a mentor in the real estate industry, Ghanadan's brother said. The pilot of the Cessna 414 and all four passengers were killed, but nobody on the ground was hurt, authorities said.
Later he says he's going to land it in a "safe manner" but then asks if the plane can do a barrel roll. I don't know. I don't want to. "And, uh, it's going to disappoint them to hear that I did this". He told air traffic controllers that, "Those guys will rough me up if I try and land there". "I'm a broken guy who had a few screws loose".
Shortly after receiving reports that the plane flew "around Puget Sound", witnesses say they saw a "large smoke plume", rising from Ketron Island.
This is a developing story, more information to come.
Although the identity of the man is not known, authorities have confirmed that he was in charge of directing aircraft for takeoff, gate approach and de-icing planes. "I was kind of hoping that was gonna be it".
Witnesses told Seattle TV station KIRO that they saw the plane accompanied by two military aircraft before what they thought was a crash.
