The lawyer for the family of a 26-year-old man who was shot and killed by a Dallas police officer who said she mistook his apartment for hers is calling for her to be charged. Her name is Amber Guyger, and interestingly, she was also involved in the shooting of a suspect in 2017, according to a report.
Last night, a female Dallas Police officer returned to what she believed to be her apartment after her shift ended - she was still in uniform when she encountered Mr. Botham Shem Jean inside the apartment.
The Rangers reportedly postponed pursuing a warrant against Officer Amber Guyger to follow up on information she told them- a courtesy that suspects nearly never receive after a police chief has called for an arrest.
Their mother, Allison, a former Permanent Secretary of the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations for St. Lucia, was traveling to Dallas on Friday.
The man killed by a Dallas police officer at his apartment on Thursday night did not know the officer, and the officer wasn't in a picture with the victim that has been widely shared on social media, sources with direct knowledge of the investigation confirmed to WFAA on Saturday. The four-year veteran of the department was released from the Kaufman County Jail on Sunday evening after posting a $300,000 bond.
No other details about her were released.

Guyger's arrest was announced as Jean's family and their attorneys say they met with Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson to demand the officer's arrest.
She allegedly mistook him for an intruder and killed him.
"Somebody has to be insane not to realize that they walked into the wrong apartment", Allie Jean said.
The victim, Botham Jean, was a Harding University graduate who worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas.
"This is a awful tragedy", the company said in a statement. A struggle began and Ms Guyger fired her Taser at Perez, who then wrested it away from her. "We understand the concerns of this community and that is why we are working as vigorously and as meticulously as we can to ensure the integrity of this case".
