She declined to discuss a number of critical details about the altercation, including: how the officer came to enter an apartment that was not hers, how close the residence is to her actual apartment, how she came to mistake one for the other and what happened in the moments leading up to her opening fire. She told the press that the whereabouts of the officer are now unknown due to the initial confusion about the situation.

The responding officers administered first aid to Jean, a native of the Caribbean island country of St. Lucia who attended college in Arkansas and worked for accounting and consulting firm PwC. It is not clear what prompted the shooting but the officer shot Jean and then called police.

Frazier said Jean was a bright student with a bright future ahead of him who had interned with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dallas before taking a job there after graduation. Hall said it's still unclear what happened between the officer and Jean. "This is all we can give you at this time". The officer has not been interviewed and was not detained. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
